The Long Sword excels at swift movements and combos. Increase Spirit Gauge levels to power up your attacks. Time monster attacks to trigger precise counterattacks. Certain counterattacks increase your Spirit Gauge level. Consume Spirit Gauge levels to unleash devastating attacks!

Long Sword combo loop
- Basic-attack chains fill the Spirit Gauge
- Skill 1 (Spirit Blade chain) raises the gauge level
- Tap or hold Skill 2 to counter (Foresight Slash / Iai Spirit Slash)
- At a high gauge level, Skill 3 (Spirit Thrust) cashes it in
Best Long Sword armor
Early game
- 2 × Kulu-Ya-Ku: +22.5% attack and element while your health is full
- 2 × Radiant Great Jagras: a second full-health attack bonus; fill the last slot with anything that helps you keep health up
Mid game
- Radiant Rathian set, or Rathian helm + chest: reported to boost the Spirit Gauge
- 2 × Tzitzi-Ya-Ku: +30% damage for 12 s after a Perfect Evade or Perfect Guard
