All 42 Monster Hunter Outlanders Buddies at launch: 10 SSR, 15 SR and 17 R. Each Buddy belongs to one class (Palico for Assault, Rutaco for Disruptor, Trillan for Support) and boosts the Adventurer carrying it and the whole squad. Checked 2026-10-30; rankings are on the Buddy tier list.
Data checked against the live game and official posts

“Buddies who journeyed with Adventurers to Aesoland, skilled with various weapons and items.” (official site)

“Buddies native to Aesoland, skilled at using tools and Radiantite to build.” (official site)

“Buddies native to Aesoland, skilled at using their voices to support Adventurers.” (official site)
Each Adventurer carries one Buddy of the same class. SSR Buddies have a personal bonus that triggers on a condition, such as Rupture damage, being airborne, a Parry or shielding an ally, plus a 3.5% damage bonus for everyone in the squad. SR Buddies give one squad-wide bonus, for example 3% elemental damage, 5% damage reduction or longer Suppression. R Buddies give 0.8% squad damage. Squad bonuses from every Buddy in the party add up, so even a carrier without a good personal match still helps the team.
Buddies come from the same recruitment banners as Adventurers: the 10-pull guarantee is an SR Adventurer or Buddy, and the standard banner lets you pick a standard SSR Adventurer or Buddy every 300 pulls (see the banner guide). Kojiro comes from the Battle Pass, and Shadow and Wrench arrive with Midori and Freya. Effect numbers are from one English database and may be rounded; we will re-check them against the in-game text.
42 at launch: 10 SSR, 15 SR and 17 R, split evenly across the Assault, Disruptor and Support classes.
They are the three Buddy species. Palicos are Assault Buddies, Rutacos are Disruptor Buddies and Trillans are Support Buddies.
Each Adventurer carries a Buddy of its own class: Assault with Palicos, Disruptor with Rutacos, Support with Trillans.
Names and classes: two English guides agree; rarity matches the Japanese guide where the Japanese name is known. Effect numbers: one English database (reported). Spotted an error? Email contact@mhodb.com.
